Erika Schaeffer, MD, is an OB/GYN at Southern Connecticut Women's Health Care Associates, serving women in Milford and Westport, Connecticut. Dr. Schaeffer is passionate about advocating and supporting women through every stage of their life journey, whether that be in adolescence, marriage, divorce, pregnancy, menopause, or beyond.
Dr. Schaeffer received her undergraduate degree in Bioengineering from Syracuse University in New York and has worked on several projects dedicated to the restoration of degenerative joint function with hip and knee replacement implants. It was during this time that she developed her passion for the medical field.
She then went on to earn her medical doctorate from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was immediately drawn to orthopedics, but after her rotation in obstetrics, she was moved by the experience and the opportunity to support women and their families during their most vulnerable moments. This close relationship between patient and doctor has become integral to her philosophy of practicing medicine.
Dr. Schaeffer completed her residency and served as a chief resident at Bridgeport Hospital, a part of the Yale New Haven Health System. She is FLS certified in laparoscopic surgery and is proficient at robotic surgery utilizing the da Vinci® Surgical System.
After growing up in Trumbull, Connecticut, Dr. Schaeffer returned to the area to provide excellent OB/GYN care to the community in which she was raised. When she is not in the office, she is a new mom who enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
