Why Does it Hurt to Have Sex?

There are many reasons that a couple may experience painful intercourse, whether they are male or female. Medically, painful sex is referred to as dyspareunia and results in a loss of pleasure and stimulation during intercourse.

The pain may be either physical or psychological. It is crucial to have an OB-GYN that not only takes the physiological component into account but also the psychological components of sex in order to holistically address the condition.

In order to pinpoint the problem, Dr. Sivkin will obtain a detailed medical history, and most likely ask questions about the problem and your sex life. Based on her synopsis, a treatment will be prescribed that addresses the cause of the issue. This may include talking, training, or medication.

Does Sex Therapy Require Multiple Visits?

Dr. Sivkin’s extensive and effective therapy will most likely require multiple visits. This is to ensure that the patient is reducing their symptoms, as well as returning to a normal, healthy functioning sex-life. However, each patient has a unique situation.
